If anybody is interested to know how it feels like reviving your lost vigour in the laps of nature, a visit to Shayadri Ayurvedic Centre, in Pallikunnu is a must. Carpeted with green vistas of tea, cardamom, rubber and coffee plantations, interspersing with silver cascades, the landscape of Pallikunnnu is adorned with sculptural rocks and mist-cloaked hilltops, that make this virgin destination an unforgettable experience. The ayurvedic centre has strategic treatment and well-maintained accommodation facilities, a separate unit for manufacturing Ayurvedic medicines and an awe-inspiring herbal drugs museum. Plan a visit to the museum and you will be amazed to see how man has cultivated nature and extracted the best out of it. The sprawling gardens of Shayadri Ayurvedic Centre, also encourages more than 200 different varieties of vegetations, which are grown with utmost care, and then processed to produce fine examples of ayurveda. It advocates the use of natural fertilizers, bio-control agents and recyclable biological products to attain a self-sustainable eco-system. As a part of this programme, the centre employs the use of organic manures, cultivation of legumes, intercropping, vermiculture and improved biodiversity for crop protection. Don't forget to get a permission from the director of Peermede Development Society, before visiting the greens. The centre has a huge range of clientele from all over the globe, who come for every ailment from migraines to fractures, arthritis to heart diseases, and even sinus and cancer. The centre is now planning to build a 50-bed hospital, a health spa and an Ayurvedic complex, on the banks of Chembakava River.
The Sahyadri International Ayurvedic Centre is situated at Thripunithura, in Idukki district and tourists can start their ayurveda journey from Cochin. Get a taxi from the city centre to reach the Government Hospital Road, where the centre is located.
